WA360 2025: Day Nine

Day 9 Goal Map:

Waypoint number two: ✅

Which means… we achieved our sixth goal!

We went back to the dreaded 4am alarm to get out on the water while the winds were low. That strategy worked well, and we were able to land in La Connor in the early afternoon.

We made the decision to take a long break here, using the Cascadia Marine Trail site. We are still enjoying our adventure (even after yesterday’s slog). We will get a little extra rest tonight, since we aren’t catching the Swinomish Slough’s next north current in the wee hours. We’ll try to time it towards afternoon slack (or a little before) to launch.

Forecasts for some of the course ahead are looking discouraging. Which is important for people who have a goal to finish this race. But for those of us that are in it for the journey, that forecast is disappointing, but not a reason to stop. And, after all, forecasts change.

It looks like you've moved up a notch from #60 to #59-#58. Impressive progress...I don't know if you are getting my comments as they disappear as soon as I submit. What is a VTS area?
